Clare

Biography

Clare joined the LJM Memorial Hospice volunteer team in 2019. She got involved because of the positive experience her family had when her Dad spent his last days in Strathcarron Hospice in central Scotland. Through her work in the WA health system, she learned that very few people in the Perth area had access to this kind of family-centred, personalised, holistic palliative and end of life care and she wanted to be part of the movement that made that more available to more people.

She is the A/Executive Director of Health Consumers’ Council WA. Her background is in change management and communications in the health and social care sector in the UK and Australia. She has worked at the WA Department of Health, and the WA Primary Health Alliance as well as at the Department of Health in London. In the UK, she worked on a national frontline leadership program in the National Health Service which brought frontline staff and consumers together to work on improving health services in their local area.
She is trained in change management, project management and Gestalt therapy. She is a member of Palliative Care WA, the Australian Health Promotion Association, the Public Health Association of Australia, and Consumers Health Forum of Australia.
