Fergus MacRitchie

Biography

Fergus MacRitchie, was first introduced to Liam James McLaughlin Memorial Hospice in August 2021 when he attended the Presentation Event, D2KD, at the YHUB in Yanchep.
This event had shown a fresh approach to Palliative and End of Life Care.
Fergus’s wife, Rita, had died just three years ago in August 2018, being looked after at home by Fergus and her Family. Rita was diagnosed with Alzheimers.
On the 5th August, Fergus took Rita to hospital to address the fact that she was not eating. Within a matter of hours after some testing, Fergus was told to get the Family to hospital, because Rita had a severe bleeding in the head and she would not live the night. It took Rita 8 days to die, in a single bed room, given pain relief and no food. This was the level of Palliative Care that Rita received.
Rita died on the 13th August 2018 surrounded by her Family by her side.
Fergus established MAC’s Driving School in February 1989 and has been carrying out the business of training Novice Learner Drivers in the Perth Metro Area since that time.
